Assistant Controller
Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will oversee critical financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting and financial management, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Responsibilities: • Manage the month-end closing process to ensure timely and accurate reporting. • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring all entries are properly recorded and reconciled. • Coordinate and support financial statement audits, addressing inquiries and providing necessary documentation. • Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards. • Monitor compliance with DCAA requirements and implement necessary controls. • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement. • Collaborate with other departments to improve financial reporting procedures and operational efficiency. • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, establish and manage an internal audit department. • Provide guidance and leadership to the accounting team, fostering growth and development. Requirements • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management. • Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and general ledger activities. • Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and regulatory compliance. • Familiarity with construction / POC is preferred. • Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial reports. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing accounting and internal audit teams. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification and previous public accounting experience is required.
