Position Overview: 

Brunswick Corporation is seeking a results-driven Assistant Controller to lead internal and external reporting, technical accounting, and consolidation processes. This role interacts with Corporate and division finance leadership and is a stepping stone for roles of increasing responsibility with the Company.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting skills, proven leadership, a record of process improvement, and a proactive approach to maintaining financial accuracy and compliance.

Essential Functions:  

Strategic Financial Leadership

Provide leadership and oversight for internal and external reporting, technical and financial accounting and consolidation processes. Serve as a key advisor to the Corporate Controller, CFO and Division Finance leads on technical accounting and financial reporting matters.Interpret financial results and trends to support executive decision-making and long-term planning.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Own the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.Lead coordination of external audits and ensure full compliance with SOX and internal control requirements.Provide oversight of the Brunswick Employee Policy and Procedure documents related to Accounting & Finance.Provide technical guidance oversight on unique transactions including acquisitions, divestures (discontinued operations), spin-offs, cost and equity method investments, restructuring charges, derivative transactions and debt offerings.

Process Optimization

Oversee, lead improvements in Company’s quarterly and annual disclosure reporting process for compliance with US GAAP and SEC disclosure requirementsManage integration of new acquisitions or business units into Brunswick’s close and accounting processes and procedures.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.Serve as a key liaison between corporate finance and divisional controllers and CFOs on technical and other accounting matters.Lead special projects such as external benchmarking, analyzing accounting impacts of acquisitions and other transactions, and driving function-related efficiency initiatives.

Required Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree in AccountingCPA12+ years of experience with large, publicly traded SEC registrants including public accounting and corporate accounting leadership roles Progressive experience with FASB Accounting Standards Codification research and SEC disclosure requirementsDemonstrated experience in applying accounting standards to a wide variety of business transactions Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsDemonstrated experience leading teams and projects Team PlayerProven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProven ability to improve processes including application of technology

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience with:

   Preparing Audit Committee presentations and participating in meetings   Consolidation systems (Oracle Cloud EPM, Hyperion)   Audit/data analytics tools (Power BI, ACL)    Manufacturing industry 

The anticipated pay range for this position is $170,700 - $286,500 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
