Assistant Controller
Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our CLIENT'S team in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will collaborate with the Corporate Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis, while supporting various operational needs. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with the Controller and operations team to identify opportunities for profitability and operational improvements. • Oversee monthly financial close processes, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are consistently met. • Coordinate with internal departments to gather information for reconciliations, claims, and compliance-related tasks. • Maintain and enhance accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards. • Assist in the preparation of annual operating plans and budgets. • Support payroll processes by ensuring compliance and accuracy in all transactions. • Prepare and file state sales tax returns as well as property tax documentation. • Respond to external audit inquiries and ensure timely delivery of requested information. • Handle additional ad hoc duties as assigned to support the financial department. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with demonstrated expertise in month-end closings and reconciliations. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred. • Strong communication and organizational abilities, coupled with effective interpersonal skills. • Proven ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. • Solid problem-solving skills with a proactive and thorough approach to responsibilities. • Familiarity with financial reporting, sales tax, and property tax processes. • Experience working with general ledger systems and financial statement audits.
