Assistant Controller

Onsite Everyday in Waterbury, CT

Position Overview

We’re seeking a dynamic financial leader to oversee and enhance our accounting operations across multiple locations. This role is responsible for maintaining a strong internal control environment, driving process improvements, and supporting the professional growth of the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of daily, monthly, and quarterly reports, including payroll entries and regulatory filings.Collaborate with leadership to deliver clear, actionable financial insights and performance metrics that support strategic decision-making.Oversee the preparation and review of monthly financial statements submitted to external partners and stakeholders.Strengthen internal controls and compliance frameworks to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.Manage the year-end close process and coordinate with external auditors for annual reviews.Champion employee development by implementing structured training programs and setting measurable growth objectives for team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

A high school diploma is required; a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is strongly preferred.At least 10 years of progressive experience in a dealership setting or within a public accounting environment.Solid understanding of general accounting principles, dealership management systems, OEM reporting protocols, and proficiency in Excel.Strong ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for cross-functional teams.Must be proactive in evaluating and adapting financial reporting practices to align with evolving business needs.Proven leadership in mentoring and developing team members, with a focus on performance and growth.Highly organized, adaptable, and an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
