Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing the Company’s accounting operations. This role will play a key part in managing the month-end close process, maintaining internal controls, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and supporting key financial initiatives. The Assistant Controller will lead a team of accounting professionals and collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational efficiency and process improvements across the finance organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with extensive knowledge in multiple general accounting areas, be adaptive to a continuously evolving work environment, and have a desire to become a part of a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee accounting operations by managing the general accounting and accounts payable teams, ensuring that all financial records are maintained in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while continually seeking opportunities for improvement.Manage accounting for the following business processes: accounts payable, expense reporting, inventory, fixed assets, cost of goods sold, leases, prepaid expenses/accruals, commissions, and more.Research and apply technical accounting guidance for new transactions, contracts, or evolving business needs. Independently prepare memos or other necessary documentation to supporting these key technical accounting judgments.Collaborate with executive management to guide and influence key financial decisions, making sure they align with the organization’s strategy.Drive efficiencies within the accounting systems, enhancing and maintaining the NetSuite ERP system, and leading process improvement initiatives.Oversee external audit processes, including preparing books for audit, ensuring timely team response to audit requests, and managing critical audit issues.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial accuracy, process alignment, and informed decision-making.Spend 50-70% of your time on team leadership activities, including mentoring and guiding your team members, developing their individual growth plans, and addressing talent needs.Maintain and develop robust internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard the company’s financial integrity.Work closely with FP&A, legal, and operations teams to provide accounting expertise and support business objectives through financial data analysis and reporting.Assist with the implementation of new systems, tools, or automation to support the scaling of the accounting function.Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall goals of the finance organization.What You’ll Need:
A BA/BS in Accounting or Finance with a preference for candidates who are Certified Public Accountants (CPA).10 years of relevant industry experience with a strong understanding of current US GAAP and experience in managing complex accounting operations and external audit processes.5+ years proven experience managing and developing a high-performing team with a focus on coaching and mentoring.A mix of public accounting and private industry experience preferredDemonstrated experience leading, advising and influencing projects and initiatives which span across cross-functional teamsProficiency in MS Office Suite and preferably experience with the NetSuite ERP system.Experience managing international financial operations and accounting is a plusExcellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data confidently to large groups.Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize workflow effectively.Benefits:
