Assistant Controller

Job Description

Assist the Controller in managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This role involves supervising, developing, and training staff, managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. The position also includes preparing and reviewing complex accounting transactions, researching accounting issues, and leading audits.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise, develop, and train accounting staff.Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.Prepare and review complex accounting transactions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.Ensure compliance with appropriate reporting standards.Lead and coordinate external and internal audits.Support the Controller in managing supplier contracts and operational compliance functions.Assist with the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, and forecasting.Maintain financial records and system processes.Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records and implement internal controls.Perform cost accounting tasks, including analyzing production costs, preparing cost reports, and monitoring cost variances.Utilize SAP ERP systems for financial reporting, data analysis, and process optimization.Essential SkillsProficiency in accounting and general ledger management.Experience in month-end processes and financial reporting.Understanding of financial statements, cost accounting, and balance sheets.Audit and reporting skills.Budgeting expertise.Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.Proficiency in SAP and cost accounting/analysis.Skills in journal entry, bank reconciliation, fixed asset management, and accounts payable.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong leadership and management skills for a team.Mandatory SAP experience across different modules.Must have experience in cost and manufacturing accounting.Work Environment

The position requires onsite work, with a schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day off after a few months. The company is growing, with plans to build another plant in Iowa in 2026, reflecting revenue growth and expansion.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
