Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Excelsior, Minnesota. In this role, you will play a key part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency across multiple business units. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to contribute to the success of a dynamic and growing organization.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily sales transactions across retail and e-commerce platforms, ensuring accuracy and reconciliation of payments such as cash, credit cards, and gift cards.
• Manage compliance with sales tax regulations across various jurisdictions.
• Analyze sales trends, including seasonal patterns and customer purchasing behaviors, to inform decision-making.
• Collaborate with location managers to track inventory costs and optimize profit margins.
• Develop financial models to forecast sales trends, inventory needs, and cash flow fluctuations.
• Support leadership in evaluating the profitability of retail locations and implementing pricing strategies to maximize revenue.
• Assess the financial impact of promotional campaigns, discounts, and loyalty programs.
• Monitor high-risk transactions and implement controls to minimize fraud and loss.
• Identify discrepancies in refunds, chargebacks, and gift card redemptions, ensuring resolution.
• Assist in evaluating and improving accounting systems to enhance operational efficiency and data security. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Proficiency in accounting software, with preference for QuickBooks experience.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition, cost accounting, and inventory management.
• Familiarity with tax regulations, budgeting, and auditing procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
