Summary
ASM, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Assistant Concession and Bar Manager position at the Del Mar Fairgrounds & Racetrack. This position supports the Concession and Bar Manager in overseeing daily operations of the concession bars within the venue. This includes supervising staff, maintaining high standards of customer service, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and assisting with inventory, ordering, and cash handling procedures. The role is key to delivering a smooth, profitable, and enjoyable bar experience for patrons. This position is for interim events throughout the year as well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of all concession bar areas.
+ Supervise and support bartenders, barbacks, and concession staff during events.
+ Ensure all staff adhere to alcohol service laws and responsible service protocols.
+ Help recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate bar staff.
+ Monitor inventory levels; assist with stock ordering, receiving, and rotation.
+ Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene standards in accordance with health codes.
+ Monitor cash handling procedures and assist with end-of-shift reconciliations.
+ Resolve customer complaints efficiently and professionally.
+ Ensure the bar is well-stocked and prepared prior to events and cleaned/restocked post-event.
+ Work collaboratively with the Concession Bar Manager to implement promotions or specials.
+ Step in as acting manager in the Concession Bar Manager’s absence.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Familiar with OSHA, Health Dept., working knowledge of ABC laws, and Serv-Safe, L.E.A.D and/or T.I.P.S., Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) & POS System proficiency is very helpful.
Qualifications

+ Proven experience in a hospitality or bar management role (preferably in a high-volume venue).
+ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
+ Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
+ Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and relevant licensing requirements.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
+ Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling procedures.
+ Certification in food safety and/or alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) preferred.
Education and/or Experience
High School or GED/Hospitality Experience or previous Supervisory position
Skills and Abilities
+ Communication, organizational skills a must
+ Energetic and able to stand and walk for 8 hours
Computer Skills General Microsoft Word/Excel
Compensation
This position's pay rate will range from $27.50 to $28.00.

Physical Demands
This role requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs (11 kg), and working in loud, crowded environments typical of entertainment venues. Employees must be able to move throughout the facility, communicate effectively, and may work indoors or outdoors depending on event needs.
