FTE:1.0 (40 hours/week; 12 months)

Reports To: Director of Athletics/Head Softball Coach

FLSA: Exempt

This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by assisting the Head Coach in all phases of our NCAA Division III women’s basketball program within compliance of Marian University, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.In collaboration with the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Coach develops and maintains a system to identify prospective student-athletes. Communicates and networks with high school and club coaches

2.Travels nights and weekends as part of the recruiting process

3.Adhere to all Department, University, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations

4.Assist in player development

5.Assist with scheduling and travel planning

6.Assist the Head Coach with all game day responsibilities

7.Coach the varsity reserve team

8.Assist with all phases of Marian Women’s Basketball Camps

9.Assist in Athletic Department and Basketball Program fundraising campaigns

10.Assist in scouting future opponents including video analysis

11.Serves as a role model for the student athletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct at all times

12.Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees

13.Performs other work related duties as assigned by Head Women’s Basketball Coach or Director of Athletics.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS REQUIRED:

1.Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred

2.Able to demonstrate professional development in coaching, collegiate level game knowledge, and a passion for teaching

3.Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulations

4.Must have willingness to work nights and weekends

5.Candidate must demonstrate great organizational skills in addition to writing and computer skills, interpersonal communication skills, and leadership abilities

6.Experience with “recruiting software” preferred.

7.Valid driver’s license is required

8.Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
