Assistant Chief of Operations

The Assistant Chief of Operations is responsible for the day to day guidance and coordination for fire protection functions ensuring effective and economical operations of all activities. Functional work includes, but is not limited to, planning and organization of work, responding to emergency calls, investigating fires, monitoring the Fire Control Center, training personnel, completing required reports and plans to assure the daily operational effectiveness of the department. The qualified candidate shall report to the Fire Chief and work with a team of fire services support personnel. Responsibilities Works as a team to ensure effective and efficient operation of the Fire Services Support Department in accordance with the performance work statement and OPNAV 11320.23G. Implements operational policy, procedures and develops contingency plans. Ensures completion of required reports, inspections, plans and documentation as outlined in the performance work statement. Responsible for communicating and upholding company standards, leading by example, and working as a team to provide guidance to firefighters and support personnel. Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Navy requirements. Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program in accordance with DODI and OPNAV requirements. Ensures all training is documented in the system of record. Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas. Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools). Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Degree in fire safety or related field preferred. One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Must be Fire Officer III, Fire Officer IV preferred, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, and Hazmat Incident Commander certified. Must have NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Degree in fire safety or related field preferred. One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Must be Fire Officer III, Fire Officer IV preferred, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, and Hazmat Incident Commander certified. Must have NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 National Registry Emergency Medical Technician preferred. Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross. Must pass and maintain entry-level physical examination in accordance with NFPA 1582 Must have a current, valid U. S. Passport and Driver’s License (able to drive manual transmission). Must be eligible and or maintain a valid Tier 3 SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment. Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing and background checks. Experience Shall have five (5) years' of firefighting and prevention experience and at least two (2) years' of experience managing a diverse and separated response team and should include HAZMAT & Confined Space emergencies. Skills Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, and writing skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems. Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred. Other Requirements Work will be indoors and outdoors. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur. Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Task specific work environment training will be provided as required. Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U.
