This position is for the newly constructed Lucas Museum’s campus, an innovative new cultural landmark for Los Angeles. The home of the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is an 11-acre campus with a landscape consisting of trees, gardens, walkways, and architectural features that embrace nearly 300,000-square-foot. The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering and maintenance department at ABM. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure. The Assistant Chief Engineer plays a key role in supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
This is a **Union** position
**Compensation** : $ 61.59 Hourly
The pay listed is the hourly rate for this position.
**Location:** One Lucas Plaza, Los Angeles, CA
**Work Schedule:** Daytime hours and some weekends

**Responsibilities**
+ Assist the Chief Engineer in managing and maintaining all building systems and equipment.
+ Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians and contractors.
+ Serve as the primary technical authority for all HVAC systems across the facility portfolio, including installation, maintenance, and optimization of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
+ Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues proactively.
+ Support the implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
+ Respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoot system failures.
+ Direct and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, HVAC specialists, and junior engineers, providing guidance on daily operations, technical problem-solving, and professional development
+ Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
+ Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and environmental standards.
+ Assist in budget preparation and cost control for maintenance operations.
+ Provide training and guidance to engineering staff to ensure high performance and safety.
+ Serve as acting Chief Engineer in their absence.
**Qualifications**
+ 2+ years of experience in building maintenance or engineering
+ 1+ years in a supervisory or team lead role.
+ Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
+ Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS).
+ Ability to analyze technical issues, detailed level of project management for regulatory compliance modifications
+ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
