Job Description

Job Title:                                      Assistant Box Office Manager

Department:                                 Box Office

Reports To:                                 Box Office Managers – Altria Theater & Dominion Energy Center

FLSA Status:                               Full Time/Exempt

Summary Assists the ASM Richmond Box Office Managers and/or Director of Facility Accounting at the Altria Theater and Dominion Energy Center in overseeing ticket sales and all aspects of Box Office operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepares or assist with preparation of a daily and monthly report of business transactions.

Assist Finance with Chargeback disputes.

Assist Finance with Monthly Reconciliation of account.

Supervises and schedules ticket sellers and completes bi-weekly payroll.

Processes will call orders, Groupon/Goldstar, and complimentary ticket requests.

Assists in coordinating all event information between the promoter, facility personnel and the ticket company in a timely manner.

Maintains communication with ticket company representatives for updates and/or revisions in computer operations.

Assists with preparation of the final Box Office statement for settlement of each event.

Responds to customer complaints and service requests to maintain a positive rapport with the ticket buying public.

Maintains and processes sponsor tickets for each event.

Build events in Etix for Food & Beverage events at Altria Theater

Build events in Etix for Upsells and Sponsorships

Build events in Etix for Community Related Events

Assists with commercial event builds in Etix

Assists with department communication

Maintains and oversees Box Office operation for daily and event service

Serves as a ticket seller when needed, opens and/or closes ticket window

Fulfill and assist with ADA ticket transactions and ADA patron needs

Accurately dispenses tickets as requested by patrons

Maintains accurate count when selling hard tickets or accesses computer for count of computer printed tickets.

Fills reservations for seats by telephone or mail, handles Will-Call window according to procedures.

Demonstrates excellent customer service skills; responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance; able to work independently and handle most box office questions without assistance.

Efficiently and courteously answers questions concerning prices, seating, accessibility, ticket polices and events. Gives information concerning coming attractions.

Assist other department members as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assists the Box Office Managers with management of Ticket Sellers.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM’s policies and applicable laws.

Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

1 to 2 years related experience required

Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience in accounting and customer service essential

Experience with Excel spreadsheets desired

Experience with computerized ticket systems, such as Etix

Box office experience in a similar environment strongly preferred

Supervisory experience desired

Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills required

Demonstrated knowledge of financial procedures, including record keeping and reconciliation

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices

Ability to coordinate and schedule staff

Excellent good customer service and public relations skills

Demonstrated knowledge of ticket selling/box office operations

Ability to count money, make change

Must be able to work extended/irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
