4 Year Degree Provide treatment and prevention techniques for athletic injuries; promote safety in intercollegiate competition. Assist with evaluating and treating athletic injuries; consult with a physician and the Director of Sports Medicine.Design and implement a rehabilitation program for injured athletes.
Administer emergency first aid to student-athletes.
Assist in supervising the Intern Athletic Trainer Program.
Prepare student-athletes for practice and competition using standard athletic training techniques.
Give student-athletes nutritional guidance, as needed.
Perform administrative tasks, as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Represent LMU within the fan, booster, and alumni communities and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required.
Provide injury updates to respected coaches as needed.
Provide updates to coaches on injury reports and rehabilitation plans and progress as required.
Set-up appointments for student athletes with the Student Health Center as well as associated Team Physicians as needed.
Monitor, review and verify injury reports and medical records and take appropriate action as required.
Ensure proper maintenance and confidentiality of all medical records and follow insurance processing and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
NCAA, Conference, and University Rules Compliance:
Conduct all aspects of program in accordance with the rules and policies established by Loyola Marymount University, the Athletics Department, all Sports Conference Affiliations, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Complete all rules compliance information as required.
Participate in an annual evaluation of adherence to rules compliance (LMU, Athletic Department, Sports Conference Affiliations, NCAA) with immediate supervisor.
Effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, and administration.
Understand and evaluate athletic related injuries and use standard athletic trainer’s methods for treatment.
Must have knowledge of physical therapy techniques; medical terminology as it relates to follow-up care; human physiology and anatomy as it related to athletic performance; and knowledge of simple card filing systems.

Typically a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution in athletic training, kinesiology, physical education or health-related major course of study.
Minimum two years of experience as a certified Athletic Trainer in a high school or college environment.
NATA, CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification. All in good standing with the National Athletic Trainer’s Board of Certification.
Proven ability to meet multiple demands in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment.
Strong written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
