Entry requirements:
BS in Engineering or equivalent experience
6 years experience in the paper industry
Major Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for total department management of Finishing, Material Handling, Receiving and Shipping including safety, environmental performance, quality, production, and cost management. Champions continuous improvement efforts for the safe and cost-effective handling and converting of first quality release paper. Leads the development of an effective organizational structure through the staffing, training, and coaching of department employees. Co-manages and develops the shift supervisory compliment ensuring that they promote the core values of the business and work to achieve the department goals and objectives with their respective crews. Develops and executes a production plan by coordinating requirements with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Maintenance. Works with the coating departments to improve overall mill yield and first quality product to the customer. Provides leadership for continuous improvements in equipment reliability by working with Maintenance and Engineering to address root causes for downtime, conduct effective shutdowns, and effectively manage capital spending. Establishes and manages to an operating budget for the department. Ensures department compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Education and Skills Requirements:
BS in Engineering or equivalent experience Experience in paper converting operations desired Strong communication skills Experience in LSS and KT methodologies a plus Demonstrated safety leadership Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement Experience managing in a bargaining unit environment Strong skills in measuring and tracking performance Ability to work with all levels of the organization
