Scope:
This program is designed for high school students participating in work-based learning programs to complement their school curriculums and provide relevant industry training for industrial maintenance. Students will work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in repair, installation, and improvement of manufacturing equipment and facilities. The Asset Care Intern will be in a 1-year developmental program with extensive on the job training along with an e-learning plan. This individual will work with the Asset Care team and under the direction of the Sr. Asset Care Technician, undergo holistic training to learn and understand the Theory of Operations for the equipment in their scope of responsibility and how to care for this equipment to the OEM Standard, and perform Root Cause Analysis to reduce mean time between failures. This role will also rotate to different areas within the plant to develop a holistic understanding of plant operations.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; provide assistance to operations for adjustments and changeovers as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance work in alignment with manufacturing schedules and requirements in partnership with the Asset Care team.
• Develop problem-solving skills to perform equipment improvements and enhancements to optimize production with positive contribution to all key plant indicators safety, quality, cost, and service.
• A strong commitment to improving line performance; proactive maintenance to minimize line down time.
• Support operational requirements when necessary and product changeovers.
• Observe mechanical devices in operation, listening to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Assist with the dismantling, examination, adjustment, repairs, replacement, installation, and cleaning of parts.
• General awareness and knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety standards and how they affect the department.
• Train on department work instructions and easily identify location of work instructions in department.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices to keep our people and products and safe.
• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• In progress for High School diploma with work-based learning program.
• Mechanical experience in a manufacturing or maintenance environment preferred.
• Good communication skills with operators, other mechanics and resources.
• Ability to analyze data and make decisions/recommendations based on analysis.
• Ability and willingness to operate and support a positive culture and follow established values.
• Ability to integrate into all parts of the operation to support the facility in achieving our goals & objectives
• Proactive individual that takes responsibility for their equipment, line, coworkers and the continuous improvement of the operation.
• Able to work in a team environment where honest communication, a positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability is expected.
• Able to work with computers (navigating systems, recording information, using to find information to perform the job)
• Demonstrate a very high sense of urgency.
• Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.
• Must have good job performance and attendance records.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & handle multiple tasks.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend.
• Must possess visual acuity to document company records.
