Job Summary

As an Assembly Back Shop Technician 1 at United Rotorcraft, you are responsible for assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and components. You are also responsible for Fabricating, assembling and repairing composite components.  This role ensures that all electrical assemblies and composite parts meet industry standards, company quality specifications, and regulatory requirements. 

Assembly Back Shop Technician 1 will work closely with manufacturing engineers, quality control, and production teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.  This role may require training or supervision to complete more complex tasks.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  

Fabricate, assemble, repair, modify, test, operate, and troubleshoot of avionics/electrical modules, components, and wire harnessesFabricate, assemble or repair composite production and aircraft parts.Design and construct composite and wood molds, fabricates plastic and composite parts from respective molds, constructs small sheet metal or wood parts as neededPerform electrical testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality of components and assembliesMark wires, assemble lay-ups, terminate (crimp, solder, and splice) to engineering blueprint specifications and/or work instructionsInstall wires and electrical components into electrical modules and assembliesPerform electrical continuity checks, operational tests, and acceptance test procedures per engineering and manufacturing instructions on harnesses and wired componentsMaintain accurate records of work performed, including test results, material usage, and certifications per company standards and proceduresCollaborate with manufacturing engineers on deviations from stand procedures and quality defect root cause and corrective actionsAssist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, flow, quality, safety, and cost in the electrical assembly and wire harness processesMaintain shop and work area cleanlinessOther duties as assigned

Education & Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 0- 3 years’ related Electronics/Avionics experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technical certification or associate degree in electrical/avionics trade, electronics, or related field preferredBasic knowledge of safety protocols, quality standards, and process awareness related to electrical component and wire harness manufacturingBasic understanding of blueprint reading an interpretation

Computer Skills

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

FAA Repairman Certificate or FCC License preferred
