How will you make a difference?
Wabtec is seeking a qualified Assembler I (Door Final) to join our team in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. The ideal candidate will assemble prepared machined parts like rails, panels, and bars into doors, according to prescribed patterns, by performing the following duties.What do we want to know about you?
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical studies preferred; 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Communication Skills The ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Other Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software.Flexibility: to work overtime and weekend hours. Ability to read blueprints, previous mechanical/electrical assembly experience, experience with using lifts and hoists, ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Have the initiative to identify safety issues, raise their hand and bring these issues to the Lead person or Supervisor.What will your typical day look like?
Assemblers will build the sub-assembly by installing screws, applying sealants, installing spacers and torquing all hardware to specifications. Constant use of the hands and excellent dexterity are required.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.What about the physical demands of the job?
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
