From central bank rate decisions and inflation to unemployment and GDP, key economic indicators are the drivers of global markets and the foundation of Bloomberg's news coverage. The Economic Data news team is the frontline of this coverage, delivering numbers accurately and quickly while also providing instant context that's vital to decision makers. We are real-time data journalists who build workflows to import, transform, format and publish figures within seconds. We are also responsible for surveying hundreds of economists each week to produce medium-term forecasts and the consensus estimates that help traders decide whether to buy or sell.
We are looking for an editor to join the Asia Pacific Economic Data news team in Hong Kong. This person would cover Chinese indicators and share coverage of other economies across the region. Responsibilities include publishing numbers along with writing and editing news in formats such as breaking news headlines, short bullet-point stories and data tables. The right candidate will have a desire to innovate, a passion for fast news coverage and rock-solid reliability.
We'll trust you to:Deliver key economic data with accuracy, speed, clarity and contextSurvey economists for scheduled indicators and medium-term forecastsInnovate with new ideas on the best ways to collect, analyze and present economic dataImprove and reimagine workflows using new and existing technology Research and implement different ways of generating insights from publicly available reportsCollaborate across the newsroom to identify opportunities for improving coverage
You'll need to have:At least 3 years of experience in a field related to Economics, Finance, Data Science or JournalismPython data science skills and working knowledge of Excel VBAInterest in AI and large language modelsFluency in both spoken and written English and MandarinAbility to multitask in a fast-paced news environmentA desire to learn and to constructively question the status quoDemonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
