Job Title: Asbestos Designer

Job Description

This role involves working collaboratively with architects and engineers to identify hazardous materials such as PCB, Lead, and Asbestos in state schools and industrial buildings, and to develop effective abatement and remediation plans. The position requires coordination with agencies like SUNY, OGS, CUNY, and SUCF. The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, able to translate technical findings into actionable insights for engineering and construction teams. Responsibilities include conducting site inspections, collecting samples, and preparing detailed reports with drawings, photos, and lab data. The role demands a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual who can work independently in dynamic environments such as school campuses. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management tools are expected.

Responsibilities

Work closely with architects and engineers to identify hazardous materials in buildings.Develop abatement and remediation plans for hazardous materials such as PCB, Lead, and Asbestos.Coordinate with agencies like SUNY, OGS, CUNY, and SUCF.Conduct site inspections and collect samples.Prepare detailed reports including drawings, photos, and lab data.Communicate technical findings to engineering and construction teams.

Essential Skills

Hold at least 2 NYS Asbestos Inspector certifications.Minimum of 2 years experience in building hazmat inspections, especially in educational and institutional settings.Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local asbestos regulations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).Familiarity with project management tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

EPA Lead Inspector, Risk Assessor, Project Designer, Project Monitor, OSHA 40 certifications are strong pluses.Additional certifications like 40-Hour HAZWOPER.Experience with site visit travel, particularly with 6 plus years of experience.

Work Environment

Candidates with 2-4 years of experience will work from the Buffalo, NY office. The role involves 50% office work and 50% field inspections. For those with 6 plus years of experience, remote work is an option, with travel for site visits to SUNY schools.
