What You’ll Do As an Art Teacher at the Tilton School, you’ll be much more than an educator. You’ll play a key role in helping students heal, grow, and discover new possibilities. Our students have often faced adversity and educational gaps, but they also show incredible potential. Through visual arts instruction, you’ll encourage self-expression, build confidence, and support emotional and academic growth. Your teaching will be personalized and grounded in each student’s goals. You’ll work in a structured environment with small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio, giving students the support they need to thrive. Many students make meaningful progress in both school and life. Your impact will stay with them long after they leave your classroom. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a creative, student-centered art educator who is committed to helping young people succeed academically and personally. This is a role for someone who sees the potential in every student and works with purpose to help them reach it. Qualifications & Benefits Qualifications and Preferred Experience + Bachelor’s degree and a valid NYS teaching certificate in Visual Arts, or an equivalent teaching certificate obtained through a NYS-approved pathway that leads to a master’s degree in education and permanent certification + Certification in Special Education strongly preferred + Prior experience teaching students with IEPs or emotional/behavioral challenges is a plus + Must meet all NYSED and agency training requirements Key Skills and Attributes + Skilled at building rapport with students who have experienced adversity + Able to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that integrate art and emotional learning + Organized and responsive to deadlines and documentation requirements + Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team + Open to learning and reflective practice Why Work with Us?
