Area Manager Human Resources

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate need for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager at our Princeton, West Virginia, Coal facility.  Princeton is a coal mining complex that specializes in surface and underground mining of metallurgical coal to produce coke and pulverized coal injection (PCI). Most of the production is consumed at Cleveland-Cliffs facilities. The qualified candidate will be responsible for assisting operations, maintenance, and service departments in meeting key business goals by leveraging HR expertise to resolve problems.  This includes but is not limited to providing leadership, direction, and coordination in the planning and implementation of all human resources activities at Princeton Coal. 


Summary of Responsibilities:

Implements all employee and policy objectives and programs.

Providing support to departments in the areas of Employee Performance Management, Work Force Effectiveness, Labor Cost, Staffing, Scheduling, Employee Conduct, and Safety.

Assist Management in addressing employee performance or conduct issues through training, reeducation, and taking correct steps under company policy, to assure optimum employee performance.

Responsible for managing the complaints or concerns raised by employees or other stakeholders.

Monitor resources, staffing, and administration.

Administer policies and procedures in compliance with corporate programs.

Responsible for compensation, training, recruiting, and employee relations activities.

Encourage people to participate in community affairs actively.

Support corporate initiatives.

Advise management on all human resources issues and offer suggestions for policy changes that will be cost-effective and will promote positive employee attitudes and increase productivity.

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Management, or related field with 5+ years of human resources experience.

Experience in a manufacturing environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proven ability to manage multiple and diverse priorities

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Requirements: 

At least 10+ years of HR experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory role

Experience in the mining industry

Experience working with ADP and Workday HRIS platforms

SHRM-CP/PHR Certification

Experienced in conducting internal investigations

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
