Purpose:
The Area IT Technician is a traveling IT generalist responsible for providing onsite technology support across multiple communities within an assigned area. This role serves as the primary field presence for IT, ensuring technology systems are well maintained, resident and staff issues are promptly addressed, and communication with both users and IT leadership is professional and clear. The Area IT Technician must be equally comfortable working in a network closet as they are leading security awareness training for residents. While not expected to resolve every technical issue independently, they serve as skilled remote hands for IT experts and know how to escalate effectively.

Incident & Escalation Management
Triage issues and escalate appropriately to higher-level IT experts when required.Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and outcomes in the IT ticketing system.Coordinate closely with the Service Desk to maintain continuity of support.Project & Deployment Support
Assist in IT projects such as internet service upgrades, VoIP rollouts, and cable TV service changes.Support vendor and contractor visits to ensure work complies with IT standards.Proactive Monitoring & Reporting
Identify and communicate recurring technology concerns or risks at assigned communities.Provide regular feedback to the IT Operations Manager regarding service quality and resident satisfaction.Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.2–4 years of IT support experience, ideally in a multi-site or service-focused environment.Experience supporting both infrastructure (network closets, cabling) and end users.Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, VoIP phone systems, and cable TV troubleshooting.Strong communication skills, able to explain technology concepts to non-technical audiences.- Confidence in leading resident-facing training on cybersecurity and safe technology use.Highly organized with a proactive and customer-service-focused mindset.Willingness to travel extensively within assigned area (up to 75%). Strong documentation and professionalism standards.Working Conditions:
Able to work full-time and maintain regular, reliable attendance. Travel is required.Physical/Sensory Requirements:
