Title: Area Director, Key Account Management - West

As an Area Director, Key Account Management in our Gastroenterology Business Unit, you will be responsible for leading a team of Key Account Managers to promote Takeda’s GI portfolio of products to an audience of healthcare professionals.

 

OBECTIVES:

The Area Director, Key Account Management (KAM) is responsible for coaching the KAM team in account planning and execution for Strategic, Key, and Foundational accounts across the GIBU portfolio. This role includes establishing and managing relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders; while also managing the Area business operations (e.g., budgets, sales and account data, policies/procedures etc.).

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·       Leads team in development of market based business strategies that achieve key account objectives, maximize exposure and opportunities for company products.

·       Proactively evaluates business opportunities and strategies providing recommendations and solutions to business challenges to National Director and Area Key Accounts team.

·       Responsible for recruiting, training, and development of KAM team. Aligns performance for success by focusing and guiding others in accomplishing work objectives while creating an environment conducive to continued development and evolution.

·       Coordinates with the National Director and local sales leaders to drive accountability for sales results and successful MBO performance.

·       Collaborates with cross functional partners across GIBU brands.

·       Provides strategic input to Marketing colleagues for development and continued evolution of the marketing plan and KAM related customer resources.

·       Works with Regional and National Account Managers to stay current the managed markets landscape and implements initiatives to maximize sales results.

·       Guides, coaches, and holds KAMs accountable to developing and executing account plans and business strategies that pave the way for Takeda’s products and prepare for successful product launches.

·       Drives multi-brand account planning and execution: Ensures development and execution of account plans/business strategies that increase penetration of the account with key stakeholders of influence (i.e. D-suite, C-suite, KOLs) to achieve business objectives and measurable outcomes. Key customers include IDNs, Health Systems, Academic Centers, large PGPs, and ASOCs.

·       Advancing the KAM team vision: Ensures that the KAMs are earning Takeda a place in the account’s decision-making process. Effectively anticipate and address developments at Key Accounts impacting Takeda.

·       Proactive team engagement: Has impact beyond their Area by proactively sharing best practices/strategies/tactics with other KAM ADs and exemplifying the behaviors identified in the Role 4 Competency Model.

·       Assess: Takes measures to identify the strengths, developmental opportunities, and career goals of each team member.

·       Develop: Provides effective, and ongoing, coaching that enables the growth and development of each team member, and enlists performance management measures when necessary.

·       Elevate: Challenges, holds accountable, and demonstrates measurable growth and development of their highest performing/highest potential team members.

 

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Required:

·       Bachelor’s degree

·       10 years of sales, account management, and/or marketing experience in the pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries.

·       Minimum of 5 years of management level experience which may include district management, account management, marketing management, and/or product management experience or the equivalent.

·       Minimum of 2 years leading a sales or account management team.

·       Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify unique selling opportunities and adaptability to changing market conditions.

·       Demonstrated ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a team by providing timely feedback.

·       Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data to develop strategic and actionable business plans to deliver sales results.

·       Strong communication skills – verbal, written and presentation skills.

·       Strong experience using MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

 

Preferred:

·       Account-based management or sales (e.g. hospital, health system, infusion centers and large group practice) experience.

·       Experience with infusible or injectable products.

·       Experience in Immunology, Gastroenterology, and/or rare disease.

·       Biologic product launch or related experience.

·       Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Driver’s License

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/client sites to work with Key Account Managers, attend local and national meetings, and training.

·       Overnight travel to support Area or broader National/GI initiatives

·       Travel ~50%

For Location:

Illinois - Virtual

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$215,200.00 - $295,900.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
