Job Description One of our top utility clients is looking for a technically skilled Architectural Specialist to support infrastructure projects, specifically substations. This is a code-driven role, not a creative design position. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering and will have experience working as an architect with engineering firm experience or an engineer with architecture experience. This individual must understand zoning, egress, restoration, masonry, and safety, and be able to collaborate across disciplines to guide projects from concept to completion. This role involves developing and guiding architectural and engineering drawings and calculations, reviewing layouts for zoning, egress, and code compliance, and leading restoration efforts such as façade, masonry, and roof repairs. The specialist will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle—from early planning and conceptualization through bidding, construction, and in-service—while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities also include conducting life safety and energy code analyses, troubleshooting regulatory issues, and coordinating with legal, construction, operations, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, review vendor and design team submissions, and ensure all documentation meets regulatory and project standards. Skills and Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Civil Engineering. • 5+ years of experience in an engineering or architecture firm (utility or industrial preferred). • Strong understanding of NYC zoning, building codes, egress planning, masonry, and restoration. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and architectural modeling tools. • Experience with commercial/industrial building materials and systems. • Ability to lead design efforts, execute on those designs and guide outsourced designed teams on areas of improvement • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. • Pragmatic and detail-oriented, focused on safety and compliance over aesthetics. • Comfortable in a highly technical, code-driven environment. • Able to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities. • Understands the full design process—from concept to delivery. • Proactive problem solver who can navigate complex stakeholder need null We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
