Architect - Building Plans Examiner

 

We are seeking the immediate hire of an Architect – Building Plans Examiner needed for inspection and plan review services of construction projects.  The work involves the interpretation and application of these regulations as applied to customer relations, the review of building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents.

 

 

Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

 

Conduct examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings and all other required documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other regulations relating to building construction. Provides clear and concise commentary on all code violations found in building permit application documents giving all required code sections. Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations Approves, with signature, all building permit applications found to be in compliance with all relative codes and regulations. Meets with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues which arise during the plan review process. Prepares and maintains all required records and reports. Inspects buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and all other related regulations as required by the supervisor. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager

 

 

Education/Experience:

 

Licensed by the State of Florida as a General Contractor; or Licensed by the State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building. Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development. Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements. Professionals with an Architectural degree.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and extended periods of time standing and/or walking.

 

 

Environmental Requirements:

 

Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.

 

 

Sensory Requirements:

 

Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
