Archaeologist
Jacobs Ecosystems, Restoration, Science and Permitting group seeks an early- career Archaeologist with experience in the US Pacific Northwest to be based in our Bellevue, Washington or Portland, Oregon office. This position involves providing cultural resources support for planning, engineering, and construction services to government and private clients. In this full-time position your duties will include archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring, as well as other tasks as assigned. Position requires artifact analyses, preparation of detailed field notes and archaeological site records, research, and report writing. Candidates must be able and willing to work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions, often traversing rugged terrain. Field tasks may occur in remote and urban environments, as well as active transportation corridors. Must demonstrate keen awareness for workplace safety, and be willing to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervision. '-B.A./B.S. Degree or higher in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology -Completion of an archaeological field school -Knowledge of computers and GPS equipment -Ability/willingness to travel to distant or remote areas, and for extended periods as required -Must be capable of walking for long periods of time over unfamiliar terrain, excavating shovel tests and test units, screening soil, and carrying field equipment -Able to work 8 to 10-hour days (or longer if necessary) in a variety of conditions. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards -Experience in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and/or California Ideally, you'll also have: -At least 2 years of field experience in archaeological survey and excavation -Additional experience in historical archaeology, lithic analysis, faunal analysis, ethnography or GIS Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
