Overview

The AR Staff Accountant is an entry-level exempt position that plays a key role in supporting the Service and Low Voltage divisions through timely, accurate billing and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. It also offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience and grow within a dynamic accounting team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

Generate and submit customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner Collaborate closely with Project Managers and department leaders to ensure billing reflects project status and contractual terms Maintain and update customer billing records, job setups, and purchase orders in Spectrum (ERP system) Monitor aging reports and assist with AR follow-up and collections efforts as needed Support the AR Supervisor in producing weekly billing metrics and reporting dashboards Assist in preparing financial summaries and other documentation for internal stakeholders Submit invoices through third-party portals and ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements Contribute to process improvement initiatives in billing and reporting functions Assist with periodic special projects and ad hoc reporting requests as assigned by the AR Supervisor or Controller Support the Controller and accounting team with general ledger activities and monthly financial reporting tasks Back up the AR Supervisor

Position Requirements/Preferred Skills, Education and Experience

Required

Bachelor’s degree. Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. 0–2 years of relevant work experience (internships or part-time roles welcomed) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office tools Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently with guidance, and manage time effectively Professional written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 Preferred

Experience in construction or service industries is a plus. Experience using ERP systems (e.g., Spectrum) is a plus.

Language Skills

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.
