\nThe Role

\nLangham Hall is hiring a new Senior Associate/Assistant Manager in the UK AIFM business which provides AIFM, Appointed Representative (“AR”) and Operator Services to entities that would need regulatory cover for activities in managing and/or advising on real estate, private equity, infrastructure, private debt deals, sourcing and negotiating these deals and finding investors for funds and/or collective investment schemes investing into these types of assets.   The applicant should be familiar with the FCA regulatory compliance regime applying to these regulated activities and/or funds and have curiosity and ability to self-learn to keep up with regulatory changes.  This role will primarily be overseeing some members of the AR service delivery team and the incumbent will also be trained for aspects of the internal compliance infrastructure for the Langham Hall entity (and its own regulatory requirements acting as the AIFM, Principal and Operator in collaboration with the Head of AIFM and two senior Directors, as well as colleagues).     This role would suit someone who enjoys a wide remit in their day-to-day job, a quick thinker and learner.  The role provides ample opportunity to undertake a range of activities where the incumbent may be interested, including: opining on new legislation and proposing its implementation; management and training junior team members; pitching for new mandates, undertaking general business development activities and project management for new projects in the business.  We would be looking for an enthusiastic, commercially minded person who is also genuinely interested in the funds sector. There is a generous provision for further professional qualifications and the possibility to enhance specialisation or improve soft skills.  The Head of AIFM and the two senior Directors have a combined 70 years+ of experience in the sector and have hands-on experience on the delivery of services so that the incumbent will have mentors to learn from.  The variety the role offers will require a good foundation in client skills and communication, financial services regulation and fund universe, organisation skills and teamwork.  The further role description below gives an indication of the key attributes and skills which are beneficial, but we also focus on team fit and growth potential as well as transferable skills or experience.

Key Responsibilities\nSupervision and management of analysts undertaking the monitoring of ARs and day to day responsibility for operation of the sub-team, acting as an escalation and knowledge point.\nClient relationship management including communication face-to-face, on the phone and via email.\nAssess risks posed by Appointed Representatives and solve problems or manage resolution / escalation.  \nManage Risk Committee processes\nAssist Compliance Director with required work in relation to internal compliance requirements including regulatory capital assessments, risk assessments, Compliance monitoring, financial crime checks etc.\nOpine on compliance matters, both for internal compliance for the Langham Hall entity and external for fund clients, and other entities for which Langham Hall provides the umbrella regulatory cover.\nBusiness development and being involved in pitching Appointed Representative and other regulatory hosting services to prospective clients. \nReview of the onboarding process for Appointed Representatives and Approved Persons including AML and KYC review, UK Financial Regulator applications and review of financial information and analysis of financial position. \nLead team members to in-person meetings with clients to discuss business plans and regulatory updates.\nApproval of ongoing monitoring and oversight of all Appointed Representatives\nAssist and oversee complex matters arising from the review of marketing materials relating to investment products. \nEnforcement and review of analyst work output and completion of client-related tracking systems.\nWork collaboratively with team to propose solutions to regulatory issues or queries through research and .\nKeep abreast of and analyse regulatory changes which may impact the team or Appointed Representatives, and oversee projects to implement required changes. \nRegular review and update of Compliance and operational policies and procedures to ensure that they remain compliant and appropriate for the work the team does.\nAny other task assigned from time to time or arising from initiatives of Langham Hall Fund Management and Regulatory Hosting\n The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to be involved in risk and compliance oversight of the AIFM and Operator business as well as further support to the Compliance Director. Knowledge of such areas would be beneficial but is not essential. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise\nRegulatory/legal experience aiding the understanding of the Appointed Representative regime and/or launching a fund.\nA thorough understanding of the principles of control frameworks and risk management processes.\nExcellent numeracy and interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.\nSelf-starter with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and responsibilities in an efficient manner.\nManagement experience or interest in people and team leadership.\nAbility to navigate complex information and provide practical guidance to the team, the wider business and clients.\nExcellent attention to detail and an enquiring mind-set.\nAbility to think laterally about the practical application of the FCA rules and regulations.\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations for which there may be little precedent.\nWilling to embrace a small team environment with focused individuals, many of whom are early in their careers.\nProficient in MS Office.\n\n
Education/Qualifications:\n \nEducation to degree level (2:1 and above).\nRelevant compliance qualifications (CISI, ICA) beneficial.\nPrevious experience in FCA regulation or working in regulated environments.\n
