Responsibilities Review payments received from payers against contracted rates, fee schedules, and expected reimbursement amounts to identify payment variancesCompare claims data with payer contracts, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, to ensure payment compliance.Identify root causes of payment variances, such as coding errors, incorrect payer adjudication, contract misinterpretations, missed modifiers, etc.Analyze trends and payer policies to pinpoint systemic issues leading to payment variancesCommunicate with payers to resolve payment disputes to ensure accurate reimbursement.Ensure payers adhere to contract terms, including timely payments and agreed-upon reimbursement rates.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer contracts, fee schedules, and regulatory changes (e.g., CMS updates, ICD-10 revisions).Use RCM software to generate reports on payment variance trends, aging, and rates.Track key performance indicators (KPIs) like underpayment recovery rate to support revenue cycle optimization.Work with coding, billing, and denials management teams to address errors contributing to payment variances.Provide feedback to improve front-end and mid-cycle processes, such as charging and coding accuracyContribute to the development of payer performance reports to assist in contract negotiations and terms
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) preferred. Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed.

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
