\n The Role
\nLangham Hall is hiring a new Associate in the Regulatory Hosting team to work on Appointed Representative (AR) services. We provide services to entities needing regulatory cover for activities in managing and/or advising on real estate, private equity, infrastructure, private debt deals, sourcing and negotiating these deals and finding investors for funds and/or collective investment schemes investing into these types of assets. This role gives ample opportunities to undertake client facing work and develop key skills in project and team management. There is a generous provision for professional qualifications and the possibility to enhance specialisation or improve soft skills. The role will suit someone who enjoys a broad remit. Whilst the focus is our AR service line and clients, the successful incumbent will gain experience in wider elements of internal compliance and projects across the regulatory hosting function, which also provides host AIFM and Operator services. We expect the successful candidate will be familiar with the FCA regulatory compliance regime applying to these regulated activities and/or funds, whether as part of a specialist role or previous more general regulatory, legal or compliance experience. The successful candidate will need client skills and communication, an intermediate level of knowledge on financial services regulation and fund universe, organisation skills and teamwork. We would be looking for an enthusiastic, commercially minded person who is also genuinely interested in the funds sector. Whilst the role description gives an indication of the key attributes and skills which are beneficial, we focus on team fit and eagerness to learn as well as transferable skills or experience.
Key Responsibilities\nManage and act as escalation / knowledge point for AR Analysts in relation to clients.\nClient relationship management including communication face-to-face, on the phone and via email.\nAssess risks posed by Appointed Representatives and be able to solve problems or manage resolution / escalation. \nManage Risk Committee processes\nAssist Compliance Director with required work in relation to internal compliance requirements including if applicable regulatory capital assessments, risk assessments, Compliance monitoring, internal policies etc.\nBe involved in business development and procurement of new clients for the business where required, such as taking part in pitch calls and preparing proposals. \nReview of the onboarding process for Appointed Representatives and Approved Persons including AML and KYC review, review of forms to the FCA and review of financial information and analysis of financial position. \nAccompany analysts to in-person meetings with clients to discuss business plans and regulatory updates.\nSign off in relation to ongoing monitoring and oversight of all Appointed Representatives\nAssist analysts in complex matters arising from the review of marketing materials relating to investment products to ensure that the contents are compliant with regulatory standards. \nEnforcement and review of analyst work output and completion of client-related tracking systems.\nWork collaboratively with team to propose solutions to regulatory issues or queries through research and discussion.\nSuggest and manage projects to improve service offering.\nKeep abreast of regulatory changes which may impact the team or Appointed Representatives and create gap analyses where required to improve existing processes. \nUpdate of policies and procedures to ensure that they remain compliant and appropriate for the work the team does.\nLead sensitive and or technical conversations between Appointed Representatives or their advisors and senior management, in relation to AR regime or relevant regulatory changes.\n In addition to the duties listed above, the candidate may be requested to perform other ad hoc work from time to time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise\nRegulatory experience, including understanding of the Appointed Representative regime.\nA thorough understanding of the principles of control frameworks and risk management processes.\nAbility to present complex information and respond to questions from within the team and from clients.\nExcellent attention to detail and an inquisitive mind-set.\nAbility to think laterally about the practical application of the FCA rules and regulations.\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations for which there may be little precedent.\nAbility to work in a small team environment with focused and hardworking individuals.\nAbility to plan effectively and prioritise workload.\nThe individual must have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.\nManagement experience preferable – this may be through delegation or supervision of junior colleagues rather than direct management.\nAbility to communicate ideas across stakeholders of varying seniority.\nExcellent numeracy and written communication skills.\nProficient in MS Office.\n Education/Qualifications:· Education to degree level (2:1 and above).· Relevant compliance qualifications (CISI, ICA) beneficial.· Previous experience in FCA regulation or working in
regulated environments.
