Overview

This position will work as an Orthopedic provider on-site during weekday hours for the Children's Mercy Orthopedic Injury Clinic located near Liberty, MO

 

The Orthopedic Injury Clinic provides rapid, convenient access for children and adolescents with minor musculoskeletal injuries. The Orthopedic Injury Clinic Physician Assistant performs a problem-specific health assessment with a major focus on injuries such as fractures, muscle and ligament sprains/strains, minor dislocations, and sports-related injuries. Treatment pathways employed in this role include casting, splinting, bracing, and referral to rehabilitative services as well as follow-up care for the injury as needed. This Physician Assistant will be expected to work collaboratively with the Orthopedic physician providers when consultation is needed, including surgical referral.

 

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.

Qualifications Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty. orDoctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) - preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience.
