Job ResponsibilitiesAssist in performing basic maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades, including masonry, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and general building operations under supervisionComplete routine groundskeeping duties such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, raking leaves, collecting litter, and sweeping sidewalks to maintain clean and safe outdoor areasServe as a permanent member of the facility’s snow removal team, including participation in scheduled on-call rotations during inclement weather to ensure safe walkways and entrancesSupport snow removal operations by shoveling, salting, and operating snow removal equipment under guidanceHelp maintain Engineering Department vehicles and equipment by performing basic cleaning, inspections, and reporting mechanical issues as neededFollow all required safety procedures and regulations, including those set by OSHA, the New York State Department of Labor, and United Health ServicesWear and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing tasks, ensuring safety for self and othersAssist skilled maintenance staff with routine and emergency repairs, gaining hands-on experience and training in building systems and facility operationsMonitor tools, materials, and supplies to ensure availability for maintenance tasks and report inventory needs to supervisorsParticipate in safety trainings, toolbox talks, and other educational opportunities to build technical knowledge and workplace safety awarenessRespond to work orders and maintenance requests as assigned, communicating task progress and completion with supervisorsPerform other duties as assigned to support the maintenance and upkeep of hospital buildings, equipment, and groundsPosition Qualifications
Minimum Required:
High School Diploma or currently enrolled in a High School or Trade School.Must have a valid driver’s license in good standingPreferred:
Two (2) years skilled trades experience or completion of Trade School.In lieu of the above minimum requirements, an equivalent combination of experience and certification that fall within the limits of minimum requirements and preferred will be considered.-----
