Applied Quantum Science Team- MSC/PHD Student- Research Lab
**Introduction** At IBM, work is more than a job - it's a calling: To build. To design. To code. To consult. To think along with clients and sell. To make markets. To invent. To collaborate. Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you've never thought possible. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world's most challenging problems? If so, lets talk. **Your role and responsibilities** Are you passionate about quantum computing and eager to work on cutting-edge research with real-world impact? Join us at IBM Research - Israel as a Student Researcher in a newly formed team dedicated to tackling one of the most exciting challenges in quantum science: achieving quantum advantage. You will be part of a pioneering team with access to IBM’s most advanced quantum hardware, including the world’s largest quantum computer. Our mission is to explore and solve real-world problems where quantum computing can offer a clear advantage over classical methods. Research areas may include: * Quantum simulation of molecular structures and properties * Identifying and formulating problems that can demonstrate quantum advantage * Benchmarking quantum solutions against strong classical approaches to rigorously validate any claimed quantum advantage Location: IBM Research - Israel (Tel Aviv) * Option 1: Full-time for 3 at least months * Option 2: Part-time (2-3 days/week) for at least 1 year **Required technical and professional expertise** We are seeking highly motivated students (currently pursuing a master's or PhD degree) with a strong background in quantum computing, physics, chemistry, or related fields. You should have at least one of the following: * Working knowledge of Qiskit, including the ability to translate a Hamiltonian into quantum circuits * The ability to formulate Hamiltonians for chemical systems or quantum problems * Working knowledge in quantum machine learning and its comparisons with classical methods Please add your grade sheet to your application **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Experience with quantum algorithms or variational methods * Familiarity with quantum chemistry or condensed matter physics * Strong programming skills in Python IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, caste, genetics, pregnancy, disability, neurodivergence, age, veteran status, or other characteristics. IBM is also committed to compliance with all fair employment practices regarding citizenship and immigration status.
