The Applications Scientist – Microplate Readers is responsible for providing pre- and post-sales support for the Molecular Devices Microplate Readers. This includes hardware, reagents and software and may also involve protocol development & applications support work in the UK and Salzburg laboratories, or onsite at customer facilities.
This position reports to the European Application Scientist Manager and is part of the Field Application Scientists team, with the role being located in Denmark but involving regular international travel throughout Europe
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Provide high level support to existing and potential new customers, supporting Account Managers on pre-sales calls to customer facilities to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer enquiries.
Perform product demonstrations and support evaluations in the field through remote, on-site visits or in-house evaluations as well as performing assay workups and testing of customer samples in the UK/Salzburg laboratories
Prepare and present seminars to customers and potential new customers.
Provide in-depth applications training to customers at their facilities, and technical training for account managers, engineers and technical support teams
Assist in the development of new applications and methodologies with customers and colleagues.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Essential - BSc degree, in life science technology with an emphasis in (molecular) biology or biochemistry with relevant postgraduate or industrial experience, or, a PhD. Must be able to demonstrate strong background scientific knowledge
Minimum of 2 years post graduate work or experience, demonstrable experience in life science technology, pharmaceutical, scientific equipment or similar organisation.
Evidence of strong skill set supporting customers (internal and external) in a technical or scientific role, ideally with practical experience with microplate readers (especially Molecular Devices products)
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Ability to travel – typically 2-3 days per week with overnight stays as required
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
