Applications and Systems Engineering Director

NI is seeking an Application Engineering Director to lead our global engineering teams. This role is pivotal in bridging technology innovation with real-world customer needs, ensuring our solutions deliver exceptional value and competitive advantage. You will champion a customer-centric culture, foster technical excellence, and develop top-tier engineering talent to fuel our company’s growth!

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire engineering managers and technical teams to achieve ambitious goals. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to define product and technology roadmaps. Align engineering objectives with business goals and customer needs. Technical Demand Gen: Recruit, develop, and coach a high-performing team capable of designing and delivering compelling Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and customer-focused demos that enable technical validation and accelerate demand generation. Build and scale team expertise in customer engagement, including organizing and supporting customer visits, developing demo assets, and executing channel enablement programs to empower partners and drive technical demand in the market. Solutions Development & Delivery: Ensure that all engineering projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Line leads, Product Management, Marketing, Sales to ensure seamless product delivery and customer satisfaction. Represent the engineering function in company-wide initiatives and external engagements. Project & Resource Management: Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources across multiple concurrent initiatives. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes. Process Improvement: Champion best practices in software/hardware development, testing, and documentation. Drive initiatives to enhance product quality, team productivity, and operational efficiency. Talent Development: Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Support the professional growth of team members through coaching, feedback, and training opportunities.  

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role. Proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex products. Strong project management and organizational skills. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. Experience with product lifecycle management and agile development methodologies.
