Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Application Support Engineer to join our team as we take on a new opportunity. In this role, you will be providing specialist application support across a mix of established COTS and bespoke applications within a secure environment for a Federal Government Department. You will work closely with internal teams, vendors, clients and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, reliable support services. This is a full time in-office position.


Our ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to thorough documentation. You will adhere to standard ITSM procedures and demonstrate excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills. Basic Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills are required to support bespoke applications, and automation using PowerShell and Bash will be a key focus for this team.

Key Responsibilities 
•    Provide application support for COTS and bespoke applications
•    Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
•    Deployment of vendor supplied updates and packages 
•    Receive, review, triage and resolve incidents and problems using ITSM processes and tools
•    Collaborate and manage internal teams as required
•    Liaise with external vendors and clients for application-specific incident and problem resolution, including appropriate escalation where required
•    Establish and maintain clear documentation
•    Constantly looking for better and more efficient methods to provide support

Technical Requirements
•    Demonstrated experience with Object Oriented Programming
•    Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and desire to learn 
•    Understanding of application servers, particularly WebLogic and IIS
•    Experience with Microsoft technology stack (Windows Server 2016 and later)
•    Familiarity with Linux/Unix and command-line tools
•    Familiarity with VM/Cloud tools

Essential Requirements
•    Must be an Australian Citizen
•    Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance
•    Must be able to obtain a Defence Common Access Card
