Application Engineer

Job Summary:

The Application Engineer will assist the sales reps and customers by identifying the best solution for their application, offering and selling comprehensive product solutions from the Appleton portfolio. This role involves providing commercial and technical support to customers and consistently striving to deliver the highest standards of customer service while collaborating with peers, outside Sales, business managers etc.

The Application Engineer will be based in Emerson FZE, Dubai handling key customers based in MEA!

 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Provide Applications Engineering, Technical and Pricing Support to MEA customers, including technical presentations and budgetary offers, site survey/ walkdowns (if required). RFQ’s - understand customer and project requirements as found on the Customer request for quote and tender package and generate IEC and NEC ETO quotes as per the client specifications and standards. Sizing and selection of Appleton products and review project specifications to prepare the offer and deviations list as per catalog/ sizing software. Prepare customer quotations that are timely, technically accurate, commercially verified, offering the best all-round solution. Discuss the offer and the selection with the outside sales. Engage in direct customer technical calls and attend any technical meetings with customers as required by sales/ project teams. Co-ordinate with the product and engineering teams for root-cause analysis and arrive at solutions and submit to customer with detailed technical solution / presentation. Ensure that purchase orders are clean and in line with quotation and agreed terms and conditions, and commercially and technically compliant before proceeding to share with relevant teams for order entry. Co-ordinate with Project Management / Order Entry teams to provide clean orders to factories and liaise with customers for post order supports and documentation. Seek and obtain management approval prior to quote release to customer / sales. Get the confirmation on lead times from factories prior to commitment to customers. Respond to the queries raised by the Drawing/ Engineering teams as required during the Order execution stage. Align with the project and engineering teams during pre-order and post-order stage by providing cost impact/ revised offer based on any scope changes.   Maintain the records and information in Emerson tools such as Share point, trackers, etc. and prepare reports. Align with local and international Emerson Trade Compliance and Quality Management procedures, as well as the Emerson Ethics policy, with respect to all business activities. Work in a timely, accurate, and proactive manner with a focus on customer service levels (i.e. meeting bid submission deadlines and turnaround time metrics). Support with Price Agreement/ Price Book offer preparation as and when required. Keep up to date with developments in products, industries and market trends.

For this Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. 3-5 years of experience in the industry including hazardous area NEC & IEC standards for Junction Boxes/ Control Stations/ Panel Boards / Motor Starters products and applications. Know how to read/analyze customer SLD/Schematic drawings according to NEC or IEC standards.  Adequate knowledge to prepare wiring concepts at the quote stage, including design ideas for Distribution panels, Motor starters, etc. Adequate knowledge of switch gears (P.P, L.P, and MOV panels, MCCB, MCB, Starters, contactors, transformers, and Relays, etc.) and selecting these parts for a given application with minimum input. Design thinking ability, awareness of wires/cables/Wire routing/wire bending radius, and heat dissipation calculations, etc. Prior knowledge of MEA region clients’ specifications and standards. 

 

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

Experience in engineered-to-order product sizing and selection. Knowledgeable in NEC & IEC industrial standards, manufacturing, testing processes. Proficient in using AutoCAD or 3D modeling and above versions. Knowledge of classified areas / CompEx certification is an added advantage. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpretation skills relating to engineering details and drawings. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment. Willing to make decisions and work with multi-functional teams Familiarity with the industries and sectors served by Emerson.
