Application Engineer
Job Title: Application Engineer Job Description The Application Engineer is responsible for completing quotes as directed, reviewing customer drawings and specifications to assess feasibility, and estimating the time needed to produce parts. This role requires proactive collaboration with customers and vendors to develop product requirements, interfacing with department managers, supervisors, and engineers to gather information necessary for completing quotations. Responsibilities + Review customer drawings and specifications to assess feasibility and estimate time needed to produce parts. + Work with customers and vendors to collaboratively develop product requirements. + Interface with department managers, supervisors, and engineers to obtain information needed for quotations. + Identify and quantify cost factors such as production time, materials, tooling, and labor expenses. + Calculate internal costs along with outside service costs and prepare quotations based on customer requests. + Recommend ways to make a product more cost-effective or profitable, including alternative materials and suppliers. + Identify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. + Evaluate an existing product’s cost effectiveness or profitability relative to corporate standards and recommend price changes. + Update pricing of historical quotations based on new information and project scope changes. + Review all paperwork related to customer RFQs to assure completeness and accuracy. + Contribute to department's performance metrics, such as output of quotes and customer satisfaction surveys. + Review existing product quality plans and provide recommendations internally and externally. + Work with sales teams and customer service to prepare quotations for customers. + Participate in the Contract Review Team to ensure timely completion of manufacturability reviews. + Prepare and communicate technical specifications to product quality, engineering, and operations for first-time jobs. + Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and support to Level 1 and 2 Applications Engineers. Essential Skills + Experience with bill of material, ERP, and schematic reading. + Prior experience in a regulated industry such as pharma, medical device, automotive, biotech, or automotive. + Ability to read blueprints and schematics. + Experience in application engineering. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
