**Introduction** Job Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior COBOL Developer to join our team who works for a major bank in Europe . You will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing our client’s mission-critical mainframe applications. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of COBOL and mainframe environments, who is also comfortable mentoring junior developers and collaborating on large-scale enterprise projects. **Your role and responsibilities** Development and maintenance of software applications according to the business needs being involved in all phases of the project, based on Agile or waterfall methodology. • Drawing up analysis, tests and detailing the changes / developments given to the application • Troubleshooting bugs detected in system operation • Ensuring the necessary data transfer between applications • Analyzing system and creating applications for system quality development • Ensure the good functioning of the application • Implementing new features • Resolve incidents, analyze problems, and implement small request for change by following the development phases (coding, unit test) in consistency with the assets • Provide quality users assistance • Answer to different service requests (reporting, recurrent tasks) • Meet the objectives related to its application (availability time, incidents time resolution…) • Ensure the necessary data transfer between applications • Update documents after each change • Propose and implement actions to simplify applications, optimize processes and automate tasks • Follow and enforce norms and standards, security rules **Required technical and professional expertise** • Graduate of technical profile faculty • Experience in COBOL programming (minimum 3 years) • Experience with Mainframe, JCL, DB2 • Experience in proposing / designing technical solutions • Experience in creating technical specifications • Mandatory English, but willing to develop the French skills **Preferred technical and professional experience** • Experience in drafting / implementing the test plan • Experience in application support • Synthesis Capacity, Customer Orientation, Initiative Capacity IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
