Application Database Administrator
CTG is seeking to fill an Application Database Administrator opening for our client in Houston, TX. Location: Houston, TX Duration: 12 months Duties: Administer and maintain Oracle databases and related applications, including EBusiness, Peoplesoft, JDEdwards, Hyperion, OBIEE, Weblogic, and Retek. Perform capacity planning, database tuning, backup and recovery, migrations, security enforcement, and patch management. Manage tools and monitor systems to ensure stability, performance, and scalability. Troubleshoot issues across databases and applications, resolving problems in a timely manner. Implement and adhere to best practices for highly available infrastructure, including load balancing, application clusters, access management, and application deployment processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable system operations and smooth integration of applications. Maintain documentation, including standards, procedures, and technical diagrams. Skills: Proficiency in Oracle databases and enterprise applications (EBusiness, Peoplesoft, JDEdwards, Hyperion, OBIEE, Weblogic, Retek). Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies, database tuning, capacity planning, and patch management. Expertise in troubleshooting complex database and application issues. Familiarity with clustering, load balancing, and high availability environments. Understanding of security principles and best practices for application/database environments. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience: 5+ years of experience as an Application Database Administrator or similar role. Hands-on experience supporting Oracle databases and enterprise applications in production environments. Experience with highly available architectures and large-scale deployments. Background in managing application clusters, access management, and deployment processes. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
