CTG is seeking to fill an Application Architect opening for our client in North Carolina. Location: Remote Duration: 15 months Duties: Assess client mainframe environments and define strategies for modernization. Develop detailed roadmaps for mainframe modernization initiatives, including in-place modernization and migration to cloud platforms. Recommend and implement modernization tools, technologies, and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of modernization projects. Provide architecture guidance for mainframe hardware, storage, networking, and disaster recovery solutions. Design solutions that integrate with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow and Jira. Support scripting and automation efforts to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Skills: Strong expertise in mainframe modernization strategies and technologies. Proficiency with mainframe hardware infrastructure (z15/z16/HMC/DS8000/TS7700/TS4500/FlashSystems). Knowledge of Cisco or Brocade SAN switches, storage fabric, and management tools (SANNAV). Experience with firewalls, proxy policy management, and enterprise disaster recovery. Proficiency in high availability, data replication technologies, and Unix/Linux/Bash/SSH. In-depth knowledge of IBM z/OS (Mainframe) and z/VM (zLinux). Familiarity with Mainframe IO GEN and FICON. Experience with ServiceNow (incident, change management, CMDB) and Jira. Ability to script with Linux BASH, Python, and RESTful APIs. Experience: Demonstrated experience in designing and executing mainframe modernization projects. Hands-on expertise with mainframe systems and enterprise infrastructure components. Proven ability to lead technical discussions and develop modernization roadmaps. Prior experience integrating mainframe systems with cloud technologies is highly desirable. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
