Appliance Mechanic
**Description** **General Summary** Installs, services and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances, using hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Connects appliance to power source and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter, observes readings on meters and graphic recorders. + Examines appliance during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts. + Disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts. + Traces electrical circuits, following diagram and locates shorts and grounds, using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact point. + Cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust. + Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring. + Repairs and adjusts appliance motors. + Reassembles appliance. + Adjusts pulleys and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools and lubricating equipment. + Performs other duties as assigned **Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements** + A minimum of five (5) years of experience performing the work of a maintenance mechanic. + General knowledge of hand and power tools + Excellent written and oral communication skills + Knowledge of computer software programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required. + Must be able to successfully pass a government background screen for admittance to jobsite + High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certificate in related field preferred **Physical, Environmental and Sensory Requirements** + Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, electric shock, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, loud noises, chemicals, etc. + Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands; regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. + Requires use of hand and power tools applicable to trade + Ability to maneuver a job site, including small spaces in around our equipment + Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus _This job description is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change._ **We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing.** **Disclaimer** **We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing.** Due to compliance requirements imposed by a federal contract, this position may be filled by U.S. Persons only.
