Apparel Technical Design Undergraduate Internship

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH  

Technical Design Interns will be assigned to a Category or Division and work under the direction of a Sr. Tech Developer or Manager. They will assist the team in the fit and construction from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned styles to lead to on time delivery and development according to critical dates, product specification, sustainability, performance, and profitability goals. Interns will assist in the creation and revision of the Tech Pack for assigned styles; ensuring all appropriate development documentation is maintained including product specs and prototype notes. They will assist in the execution fit and construction standards for a category or product group to ensure consistency. Interns will also track and facilitate prototyping for styles; identifying and addressing key issues and challenges in construction/manufacturing and planning accordingly to deliver proven and tested product. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON 

As a Technical Design Intern, you will be responsible for scheduling fit models and attending fit sessions to take notes as needed. You will receive, track, and manage samples, as well as organize and maintain the sample closet to ensure efficiency. Ordering samples—including wear test and size set garments—will be part of your duties, utilizing various formats to meet project needs. You will help build toolboxes for cross-categorical standardization in both digital and physical formats, and create, edit, and update specifications and measurements in PCX. Collaboration with partnering organizations and international vendors is key.  

 

WHAT YOU BRING:  

 

Registered in a program or college for Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Textile Science or related field with a graduation date between December 2026 and Spring/Summer 2027 

Candidates must be able to present a portfolio showcasing relevant work 

Basic knowledge of the development process from inception through production, including but not limited to pattern making, grading, construction, costing, manufacturing, embroidery, materials, and machinery 

Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. Strong verbal and written communication skills are key.  

Ability to write product specs and advanced construction instructions 

Ability to use Adobe Illustrator and exposure to Apparel CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex/Browzwear/CLO3D) highly desired
