The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Provider within the Cardiology Service lines is to perform all duties within the Standard Care Agreement under supervision of the Cardiologist in the consultation, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients, and work cooperatively with the health care team in maintaining the standards of care within the framework of the Ohio Nurse's Association, State of Ohio Board of Nursing, Medical Staff Bylaws, and Aultman Hospital policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Maintains the standards of the Cardiology Service line and adheres to the collaborating physician expectations. Collaborates with the cardiologists and cardiology fellows to admit, discharge, and care for patients during their stay as well as provide consultation services as requested. In collaboration with the Cardiologist and interdisciplinary team, analyzes and prioritizes actual/potential patient problems/needs and plans medical therapies and interventions. Performs invasive and therapeutic diagnostic procedures based on the needs of the patient as determined by the Cardiologist and as approved and credentialed by the Medical Staff Office. Documents procedures, patient response and results in the patient’s medical record. Responds to all Rapid Response and Code Blue calls within the Heart & Vascular Hospital. Responds to changes in patient’s condition by assessing the patient via history and physical exam appropriate to such change; contacts the attending physician to relay the findings and formulate necessary interventions; orders laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies if further data is necessary, and orders medication in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing and Medical Staff By-Laws. Abides by Aultman Hospital Medical Staff bylaws. Presents selected patient assessments, diagnoses, and plan of care during interdisciplinary team rounds. Provides a safe environment for patients. Assess needs of patient for discharge planning. Provides patients / families education and support. Reports and accurately records pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e.: physicians, unit director, division director, charge nurse). Serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, allied health staff and other patient caregivers and as a clinical preceptor for advanced practice nurses and other healthcare professionals. Initiates and/or collaborates in performing clinical research projects including Demonstrates ability to competently provide individualized goal directed nursing care to patients through use of assessment. Maintains a high degree of professional conduct. Creates and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation. Minimum Education (one of the below) Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. A Nurse Practitioner has successfully completed an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and successfully passed the certification exam. Family Nurse Practitioner with Experience. A Nurse Practitioner that has successfully completed an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program & passed the certification exam. This individual also has a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an RN in the desired area/unit. Family Nurse Practitioner with Fellowship. A Nurse Practitioner that has successfully completed an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program & passed the certification exam. Additionally, this individual successfully completes an APP fellowship in the desired field. Physician Assistant. A Physician Assistant (PA) that has successfully completed an accredited PA program and passed the boards. Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider within the State of Ohio Minimum Experience - Minimum 3 years in Critical Care setting as an RN, and minimum of 2 years as APP in Critical/Acute Care setting preferred Certifications – BLS, ACLS, and FCCS course Management Qualities - Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; strong organization skills; ability to stimulate new ideas and create an environment of teamwork Leadership Expertise - Integrity, honesty, fairness, possesses vision, respect

WORKING CONDITIONS:
12-hour day shifts, rotating every 4th weekend coverage. Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day. Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
