What you’ll do

The Platform Engineering function within Digital engineering provides a wide array of API and MicroServices services. These include identification & authentication, charging, location-based and self-service capabilities for multiple consumer and enterprise Customers Services around the world and Consumer/Enterprise IoT, Chatbot, AI capabilities and many more. We enable, orchestrate and expose our Digital Capabilities to third parties and Vodafone Services. 
Our Platforms are hosted on cloud based infrastructure (AWS & Google), running 350+ APIs and processing millions of transactions per day. The monitoring relies on the latest and most innovative Analytics mechanisms and tools. Our Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) aims to be fully automated, extremely simplified and reliable. Your strong analytical, functional, technical, problem solving and communication skills are essential for this role, in order to gather information, align with the developers and technical leads & communicate with the stakeholders. You will strongly influence the governance of the evolution of our portfolio, ensuring the compliance with the technology and security golden rules. The role will strongly influence the evolution of our roadmap, ensuring the compliance of the globally defined standards within Vodafone. The API solution designer shall contribute to the analytics roadmap of Platform Engineering. 

Act as an API and solution designer supporting our Platform Engineering (API) scrum teamsDesign, provide new solutions, asses new tools and improve / asses our API estateWork in close cooperation with our off- shore Solution Designer, Systems Architect and DevelopersAnalyses business challenges and technical issues and effectively communicates requirements and viable solutionsWorks in close cooperation with Microservice and API Designers and off-shore Technical Leads and DevelopersIdentifies the requirements from stakeholders across Vodafone and designs reliable, redundant and high performing APIvand MicroService designs and roadmapExpresses complex concepts in plain language to broad audiencesAdheres to technical constraints defined by Architecture guidelinesWho you are Must have a balanced mix of technical and business skillsSkilled in working with both local and remote stakeholders, skilled in working in multi-national and multi-location teams Hands-on, with proven hands-on experience to be able to build their own proof of conceptsHas a very good analytical and problem-solving attitude with the ability to quickly build credibility in teamsDevelopment in IT Balanced mix of business and technical analysis skills.Deep understanding of API (REST / SOAP) and API integration (including provisioning, login, charging and transaction).Proven working experience in large distributed & scalable architecture solutionsStrong knowledge in internet technologies such as REST, SOAP, GraphQL, JSON, XML, OAuth2, Java Script, Node JS, TDDHas professional experience and knowledge of:Enterprise solutions and architectures (i.e. cloud, big data, virtualization, storage, etc.) Development and design best practices and design patterns.Proven experience of conducting technical workshop, presenting technical solutions, preparing how-to guides, and technical comparison documents.Design and development tools, and capable of suggesting new tools/process.Familiar with the design, development and implementation of APIs. Passionate about simple and clean design and code (secure by design)Worked in Agile teams and organizations (Scrum and/or Kanban) Technical degree or equivalent working experience Very good, fluent business English skills, spoken and in writingAPI Gateways: Apigee OPDK API Gateway; Apigee Edge; Expertise on other API gateways of benefit  (e.g. Apigee OPDK, X Hybrid, KongHQ, Amazon API Gateway)Monitoring and Alarming of Services and Resources: Instana; Dynatrace; PagerDuty; AWS CloudWatch; DatadogNot a perfect fit?
