Apheresis Technician - Scripps Green Hospital

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Thursday from 6:30am-4:30pm. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla (Torrey Pines area).

What you'll do:

Perform apheresis procedures on patients following established standard operating proceduresPrepare and maintain apheresis machines and equipmentComply with regulatory requirements of the cellular therapy programObtain/measure and record patient data in the EMRCommunicate to RN changes in health status of the donor or patient before, during, and after the procedureCollect, label and store blood components properlyEnsure proper identification of patient or donor to maintain safety standardsDocument all necessary information in patient or donor recordsCommunicate effectively with the healthcare team and the patient or donorAdhere to all safety and infection control guidelinesPerforms interventions with scope, under the direction of the RN

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

Required to have completed at least 40 hours of phlebotomy training.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.Ability to follow protocols to maintain quality systems.Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.

Required Certification/Registration:Certified Phlebotomy Technician.BLS through the American Heart Association.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:Phlebotomy experience.Knowledge of Epic.Experience with apheresis.Bachelor's Degree.
