Primary Responsibilities

Accountability for sourcing of an assigned category of raw materials for the Asia-Pacific region.Understanding of assigned categories: analyzing the market, preparing sourcing strategies, utilization of a formal RFP process with implementation and tracking of results.Development and formal execution of global procurement strategies and best practices associated with bidding, negotiation, and supplier development.Sourcing of assigned materials on a global basis and defining a global strategic approach together with the Global Category Leader team.Identification, attaining commitment, and implementation of cost-out improvement opportunities to create structural and sustained advantages.Development of “should cost” and “make versus buy” financial models which provide predictive analysis to support decision making.Provide forward looking guidance on trends, threats, and opportunities throughout the complete feedstock and supply chain.Development of contingency and risk mitigation plans.Building positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.Support of new supplier qualifications to expand the supply base.Utilizing e-technologies (i.e,..e-RFP’s, Internet searches, reverse auctions, etc.)Ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, and Responsible Care programs.

Qualifications

Greater than 8-years of experience in purchasing in the chemical market.Experience globalizing contracts and pricing.Capability to develop suppliers from low-cost countries/regions.Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.Ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed organization.Proficiency in written and spoken English.Working knowledge of SAP.Excellent organization capabilities and project management skills.Data analysis skills - Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and their higher-level functions such as pivot tables, v-look, formulas, etc.Problem solving skills.Ability to identify, understand and provide prioritization of actions to all elements of the organization.Ability to work in a very diverse and matrixed environment across a broad group of multi-functional stakeholders.
