Job Description

The role of the Anti-Money (AML) Analyst is the monitoring of financial transactions
for suspicious activity using specialized software and tools. Conduct detailed
investigations into flagged transactions, reviewing documentation, interviewing
relevant parties, and consulting with law enforcement if necessary. The AML
Analyst create detailed reports on their findings and recommendations, which are
used by senior management. Provide support in the implementation of the antimoney laundering policies and procedures laid down by the central bank.
Investigate cases when there is circumstantial evidence that money laundering is
taking place. Review system generated reports of large amount transactions,
investigate, and report unusual transactions. Update anti-money laundering
operating procedures covering all areas of transactional activities. Keep abreast of
changes in business direction and new business areas of the organisation to ensure
that potentially suspicious transactions are identified and adapted where
appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fraud/Financial Crime Investigation | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Investigate cases of suspected fraud or financial crime. Identify lines of inquiry, and gather and retain information and physical or electronic evidence to support criminal investigation and/or legal action, engaging specialist investigators or subject-matter experts where necessary. Review the evidence gathered and recommend appropriate action to the organization.

Fraud/Financial Crime Management | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Analyze data to identify and track and report key trends in activities or transactions that indicate high risk of fraud, and report any specific instances of suspicious activity to more senior colleagues.

Fraud/Financial Crime-Management Systems Development | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Review external research and analysis, and analyze customer or client transactions to identify fraud trends and emerging risks, and to support the development of fraud/financial crime prevention strategies, policies, procedures, and monitoring systems.

Regulatory and Compliance Management | CORPORATE AFFAIRS | REGULATORY AND REGISTRATION

Investigate standard incidents using current regulatory and compliance processes, systems, and procedures, and take action to solve immediate compliance issues. Advise more senior colleagues on more complex problems.

Financial Risk Management | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | RISK MANAGEMENT

Implement financial risk assessment and mitigation through across areas or projects of limited complexity, strategically aligning risk management with unit objectives. Data Collection and Analysis | ANALYTICS AND DATA SCIENCE | DATA SCIENCE Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Development | QUALITY ASSURANCE | GENERAL

Take charge of developing and deploying SOPs for a substantial number of operations bearing considerable complexity, scope, and impact.

Insights and Reporting | ANALYTICS AND DATA SCIENCE | GENERAL

Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.

Operational Compliance | QUALITY ASSURANCE | COMPLIANCE/AUDIT

Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.

Personal Capability Building | GENERAL | INNOVATION

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
