Location: Hybrid 3 days a week onsite the studio in Vancouver, Edmonton or Montreal.
Temporary Role: 12 months
We are looking for a Gameplay Animator to join us on an experienced animation team, working on building a contemporary vision of EA's Skate franchise. This role requires the ability to motion edit at a very high standard and key-frame when needed. You will be working with the game-play team to help realize the vision set by the Design Director and Animation Director for the project.
You will report to the Senior Animation Director.
Responsibilities:
• Create in-game animations from a motion capture base that conform to the style and quality benchmark set for the project
• Work closely with the game-play team to establish and create animations that conform to the design requirements
• Collaborate with the Technical Animator and animation focused Engineers to ensure that all character motions appear as dynamic and fluid as possible in-game
• Work with Technical Artists, Animators and Engineers to manage and solve technical problems as they arise
• Basic implementation of tagging and branching of your animation content using EA's proprietary Frostbite engine & editor
• Identify potential roadblocks and solutions
Qualifications:
• At least 3+ years of experience working on AAA console games
• Have experience motion editing and key-framing characters to a very high standard
• Strong understanding of human anatomy & biomechanics
• A high level of proficiency working with Motion Builder or Maya
• Experience working closely with designers and engineers brainstorming and iterating on the results in the engine
• Able to identify issues and help manage and resolve efficiently
• Effectively communicate across disciplines
Beneficial skills and experience
• Have experience working on a AAA action adventure or sports title
• Experience animating characters that utilize more advanced locomotion systems
• Experience using proprietary animation/creation tools like Unreal and Unity – particularly; working with state-graphs
• A solid understanding of cinematography and experience animating cameras
• Experience working with project tracking software like Jira (or similar)
• A keen gamer, with experience playing many different types of video games
• Skateboard knowledge or experience is a huge plus!
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) * $89,300 - $123,000 CADIn British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
