Job Title: Animal Research Technician II
Job Description

The Animal Research Technician II is integral to our research and development studies, responsible for the daily care, treatment, and monitoring of animal patients. This role supports the preclinical team by ensuring the health and well-being of the animals and maintaining a clean and secure facility.

ResponsibilitiesProvide daily husbandry and care for animals involved in R&D studies.Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.Assist the diabetes research team with blood glucose monitoring and related procedures.Feed animals, clean cages, and maintain housing areas to ensure a hygienic environment.Restrain or hold animals during treatments and procedures.Maintain accurate records of animal identification, health status, and inventory.Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of the facility and equipment.Uphold biosafety and biosecurity protocols to protect animal and human health.Support veterinarians and investigators during surgeries, dosing, post-operative care, and monitoring of ongoing studies.Essential SkillsExperience in animal handling and veterinary practices.Proficiency in animal husbandry.Knowledge of animal science and research methods.Minimum of 2 years of experience working with animals.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; education in biological sciences or veterinary technology is a plus.Willingness to learn and ability to be self-sufficient or work independently.Experience with blood draws and medication administration is beneficial.Work Environment

The work shift is Friday to Tuesday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some overtime likely. This position involves working in a preclinical setting, primarily with rabbits, pigs, sheep, and dogs. The role requires comfort with these species and involves collaboration with the weekend lead.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $24.00/hr.
